Coriander Blackberry Ice Cream

It was quite a day when I finally discovered the benefits of whole spices.  For much of my adult life, I kept jars and packets of ground spices on my shelf, letting them sit there for months, even years, while they slowly lost their flavor.  I do not remember the exact moment, but at some point while cooking and following recipes, I came upon a suggestion for using a coffee grinder to freshly grind whole spices when I need them.

Watermelon Tomato Lime Sorbet

We are well into August, the hottest and stickiest month in New Orleans.  My friends and I voted the other day to completely skip the month of August, but we all know that is not possible.  So we survive by staying in the air conditioning, having pool parties, and eating lots of cool refreshing watermelon.

Peach Pit Swirl Ice Cream

The peach season in the Gulf region is starting to wind-down. Soon I will miss the treat of being able to make a trip to the farmers market every weekend for fresh peaches. *Sad* In fact, there is somewhat of a lull in produce at this time of the summer in the South.  Hot, sticky, and not great for growing.  I am looking forward to the fall when new produce will fill up the stands.  Luckily, some of you out there still have peaches for a month or town.

Review: New Orleans Ice Cream Co.

On Scoop Adventures this week, I bring you another pint review.  Until last week, it had been many months since I wrote an pint review, so I thought I would write one more review before returning to recipes.  My review this week is one of the most fun reviews I have completed.  Instead of sitting in the kitchen tasting pints on my own, I had an ice cream party!
