Meeting Jeni & Plum Peach Lambic Sorbet

It's funny how life changes in a few short years.  Four summers ago my life felt like a series of weddings - I think I went to 5 weddings in one summer/fall, including my own.  Now the weddings have died down and friends are starting to have babies.  Last weekend I was lucky enough to visit some of my very good friends and their 3-month-old little girl in Columbus, OH.

Chocolate Porter Sorbet

When I was a young child, I was obsessed with chocolate ice cream.  It was always chocolate and only chocolate, no stinkin' vanilla.  Not until I grew up, explored the world, and expanded my palate did I realize other ice cream flavors were just as tasty.  I actually prefer lighter, fruity flavors now.  But every once in a while I still crave a scoop of rich, chocolate ice cream.

Irish Channel Stout Ice Cream

In the past year or two there has been a big push to support local.  Eat local, drink local, shop local.  I am all for it.  New Orleans needs all the support it can get.  Plus eating and drinking local reduces my impact on the environment.  Among the local businesses I support is New Orleans Lager & Ale (NOLA) Brewing.  The brewery has been in operation since 2009 and is located just a few blocks away from my home.

Pumpkin Ale Ice Cream

Fall is my favorite season.  Fall brings cooler weather, comfort food, and the smell of falling leaves and crisp air.  Fall is comforting and satisfying. And even though the cooler weather comes a little later in Louisiana (compared to Maryland where I grew up), the feeling is still the same.
