Lavender Vanilla Ice Cream

The flavor I chose to make this week was an accident.  I had the intention of making a Lavender Vanilla Ice Cream but not this week.  I was making a base for another ice cream when I accidently added sugar instead of honey, leaving me with a plain vanilla base.  I have made vanilla ice cream plenty of times, and you all know how I prefer fruit or chocolate, so I had to think of something to add to the mix.  I searched the spice rack and found my stash of lavender.

Lavender Honey Ice Cream

Lavender is one of my favorite flowers.  The scent is calming and soothing, sweet and gentle.  A few years ago I had the opportunity to tour a lavender farm in Maui and it was an enlightening and relaxing experience.

As the holidays draw closer, I have decided to begin a series of holiday ice cream and sorbet recipes.  Frozen desserts are loved by many people and often serve as a fun alternative or accompaniment to the traditional holiday desserts.  I start today with Cranberry Sorbet.
