I had a lot to be thankful for during Thanksgiving. For one, I was able to travel home. The trip was unexpected and relatively last minute, as I thought it was be difficult to afford plane tickets for the holiday weekend. I am thankful for affordable, last minute airfare. I am thankful for friends. I had the chance to catch up with friends (and babies) from high school while I was home. I am thankful for my family.
After picking blueberries a few weekends ago and stuffing my freezer full of the little blue gems, there was little room for anything else, including ice cream. So this past weekend I tasked myself with cleaning and reorganizing the freezer to make more room. First task - to find a use for the frozen strawberries from last season. Sorbet seemed like a good idea.
Last week, the book that I had been waiting to read for years - Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home by Jeni Britton Bauer - finally arrived on my door step. Yes, years.
Over the past two years of making ice cream, I have figured out that ice cream is not just for dessert. It can be a snack, lunch, or palate cleanser. Recently I made ice cream for breakfast. Why not?
