Rhubarb Ice Cream

I wish rhubarb was easier to find in New Orleans.  Unfortunately it is not local and therefore quite expensive and only available a few weeks per year.  I have a tendency to splurge on ice cream ingredients though, so a bunch of rhubarb went into my shopping cart this week.  Last year around this time I churned a batch of Rhubarb Lime Sherbet which was tart and refreshing.  This time around I wanted to use the pink vegetable to make a more hearty and comforting scoop.

Cranberry Sauce Shake

My post this week is an ode to leftovers.  I adore them.  There are so many dishes that are just as good the second time or even better.  Leftovers require less cooking and less mess too.  Leftovers do not need to be boring; it is not required that you eat the same dish over and over.  Finding a creative and different way to use leftover meat, sauce, or side dish can lead to another interesting and tasty meal.

Cookies & Cream

A few days ago I was looking through my ice cream recipes and realized that my list is missing many "classic" ice cream flavors.  I'm talking about the flavors that you find at the Mom & Pop ice cream stands - chocolate, strawberry, butter pecan, mint chip, and so on.  One of my favorite classic flavors as a chlid and today remains Cookies & Cream.

Cinnamon Honey Vanilla Ice Cream

Life in New Orleans has been pretty laid back the last couple of weeks.  I think it is primarily due to the heat.  The pace of life in New Orleans is already as slow as molasses, but add heat and humidity on top of it and the pace slows to a near halt.
