If you follow me on Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter than you probably figured out that I was visiting my former residence of New Orleans this past week. My husband and I decided to make a trip to NOLA to visit friends and take in some of the Mardi Gras festivities and parades. Needless to say, we had a blast and we have 5 extra pounds to show for it. Other than seeing floats and catching throws, we ate…and we ate some more. We visited some of our favorite restaurants (including Coquette, Sylvain, Boucherie, & Cochon) and we stopped by 4 different ice cream shops (are you surprised?).
As you can see from the picture above, I was craving chocolate ice cream during this vacation. Starting with the photo on the top left and going clockwise you will see a scoop of Lemon Curd gelato from Sucre, Peanut Butter Fudge Pie from Creole Creamery, Baci (chocolate & hazelnut) from Angelo Brocato’s, and a Chocolate Thunder from Downunder shake from the Milk Bar. I enjoyed every one of these flavors while I was living in NOLA and they are still has creamy and flavorful as ever.
I also enjoyed a downright heavenly dessert during my lunch at Cochon, featuring pineapple upside down cake and cherry ice cream. Before leaving the city, I stopped by Creole Creamery one more time for a half scoop of Peanut Butter Fudge Pie and a half scoop of Bananas Foster ice cream (pictured at top). Creole Creamery is featured in my cookbook along with their recipe for Steen’s Molasses Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream! Yum!
