Wacky Ice Cream Flavors
July 13, 2011
As I read through my usual list of food articles and online magazines this week, I noticed many lists of wacky or unusual ice cream flavors. The authors wrote about flavors that were truly wacky, such as Cicada ice cream and Beef Tongue ice cream, while other listed flavors seemed unusual but possibly tasty, such as the Ben Franklin's Tomato (Ice Cream Store, Rehoboth Beach, DE), Rice and Beans (Heladeria, Puerto Rico), and Lobster (Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium, Bar Harbor, ME). However many of the flavors that were discussed did not seem that out of reach to me. Flavors and ingredients such as avocado, ricotta cheese, olive oil, margarita and maple bacon make sense. Flavors that work on a plate and lend well to sweetness make perfect ingredients for a scoop.
So to add in my two sense, I have compiled my own list of interesting ice cream flavors made by myself or others - flavors that make you think outside of the box while not being so weird that you would not want to eat them. Enjoy!
