Work on the cookbook has been ramping up as summer begins. In addition to collecting and testing recipes from ice cream shop owners, I have been experimenting with my own ice cream bases to find the best balance of flavors and texture. After several renditions of vanilla, I needed a change of pace and decided to add some of my favorite spices to ice cream.
Strawberry season in Maryland is upon us! I recently joined my first fruit CSA, and I am super excited to receive an abundance of fruit each week. The first week I received several quarts of strawberries and a bunch of asparagus and the following week the farm added some rhubarb. So exciting! And these strawberries are to die for. I have never seen strawberries so red!
